Jul 07, 2005 · While the Syriac version of the Old Testament, known as the Peshitta, was translated from a Hebrew text, it was, surprisingly, preserved by the eastern churches alone. In his book, M. W. Weitzman argues that the translation was put together in around 200 CE by a small Jewish community estranged from the Rabbinic majority.
I have just completed translating the Peshitta Old Testament in interlinear form. All but 12 OT books were published as of last year. When Joshua to Esther interlinear is formatted and edited by my editor, I will publish this last remaining section on Lulu and post it on my web site: aramaicnt.com

The translation of the New Testament was completed in 2006. Currently, it is only available in the Arabic script (you can purchase it here), but work is going on now to complete the Syriac script version. The Old Testament translation has been worked on since 2006 and is over 60% complete.
